Established as a hill station by the French in 1922, the town of Sapa is quaint with boutiques, spas and trendy eateries. But it’s the Muong Hoa Valley between the town and the Tonkinese Alps that’s really why travelers come to the far northwest of Vietnam.

The destination you will come across
From the center of Sapa town to Cat Cat village is only 2km. This is the ancient Mongolian village preserving many traditional crafts such as flowering, linen weaving and fabricating jewelry. In particular, this place still retains a lot of unique customs that don’t exist, or no longer exist in other areas.
Y Linh Ho village
Y Linh Ho is a beautiful valley lying between mountains. The fresh air in the highland is really great for trekking. This is a small commune composed by a dozen of small hamlets scattering on the mountain. Y Linh Ho Village is home to the Black Mong. You can visit the H’mong people living in their wooden and bamboo houses.
Lao Chai Village where the black H’mong people are living is the beginning Muong Hoa valley. From a high point of the main road, great view of the whole village open wide to offer the marvelous panorama of the village, backed by high mountains and facing the river. Trekking to Lao Chai Village, you can enjoy the fresh air, see terraced fields, stream, visit and discover rich culture Hmong ethnic group. People here are quite hospitable so you will have a welcome feeling. You can interact them, learn about their culture and customs.
Ta Van village
Lying peacefully in the valley of Muong Hoa, Ta Van Village is home to H’Mong ethnic, Giay, and Red Dao… with approximately 1000 people. The road leads to Ta Van village is small and narrow. However, you can see a fertile terraced field which adorns by the green of rice and corn along two sides. Coming to Ta Van Village, you amazed at the simple beauty of ethnic houses.

Depart the second day, walk along the main road heading south for about 20 minutes. Enter the Muong Hoa Valley and visit the Y Linh Ho village of the Black Mong tribe to interact with the locals and experience their everyday life at the market.
Arrive in the village of Lao Chai and get spectacular views of some of the most beautiful rice terraces in Vietnam. Enjoy lunch near the river and taste the local produce of the Black Mong community. Next, trek to Ta Van village and visit the local houses to learn more about the traditional crafts of the minority people, such as weaving and rice cultivation.
Learn more about rural life and meet members of the Dzay tribe to contrast their customs and costumes with the Black Mong people. Take the bus back to the hotel in Sapa town and rest before leaving Sapa to Hanoi capital.
